Self Guided Kayak Camping Adventures

Let Mayne Island Kayaking help plan an overnight or multi - day kayak adventure and immerse yourself in the natural beauty of the Southern Gulf Islands and Gulf Islands National Park Reserve. From launch sites on Mayne Island, kayakers have access to 3 National Park Campsites (Cabbage Island, Beaumont on Pender Island and James Bay on Prevost Island) in the region and a couple of private campsites all within a 3 to 4 hour paddle. String them together or add on other sites at Montague Harbor, Galiano, or Wallace Island and you have a multi-day kayak tour in some of finest kayaking on the inner coast.

We offer:

• Top of the line kayaks and equipment from Current Designs, Necky , Seaward and Nimbus.

• Water proof chart case and Nautical Chart(s) for your route plus our exclusive kayaking route map

• Wildlife identification charts

• Tide and current tables for your trip location and dates

• Kayak, gear and people transportation to and from launch sites.(may be additional charges)

• Ferry pick-up and drop-off for walk on passengers.(Additional Charge)

• Local marine weather contact information and day one forecast

• Local knowledge to assist with your trip planning

• Drinking Water fill-up

• Up-to-date-information on camping fees, access to drinking water, closures and fire bans

• Pre-trip briefing to review your route plan, weather, tide and current tables,

Mayne Island Kayaking has the following equipment for rent. It can be reserved in advance or rented on a first come first served basis:

• Free standing 2 person tents

• Weather radio

• Dry bags

Cautionary Note

Although the southern gulf islands offers a relatively protected environment for sea kayaking compared to areas exposed to the open ocean, there are still considerable dangers.  These dangers include, but are not limited to, strong winds, rough seas, swift tidal currents and large boat traffic. Therefore, we recommend that only intermediate and experienced paddlers with skills in self-rescue, interpreting weather and sea conditions and reading tide and current tables embark on overnight kayak adventures.  Mayne Island Kayaking is not responsible for your safety or the safety of the equipment.

One Night Self-Guided Camping Package - Cabbage Island Overnight (abbreviated itinerary)

Rate: Two (2) Fiberglass Singles @ 24 hrs: $136 plus tax or One fiberglass double @ 24 hrs: $100 plus tax

Day One

	Pick-up at ferry (additional charge) or meet at Blue Vista Resort and Sea Kayaking, complete waivers, fill up water containers, rent additional equipment if necessary.
	Complete Pre- trip orientation.
	Transport to launch site. (Additional Charge if not Bennett Bay)
	Provide orientation to kayaks.
	Arrange pick-up time.

Tour Route (possible Option)

• 2 hour leisurely paddle from Bennett Bay through the Belle Chain Islets of the Gulf Island National Park.

• Transit boat passage for lunch at Winter Cove Park on Saturna

• 2 hour leisurely paddle from Winter Cove to Cabbage Island

• Set up camp

• Optional Paddle to nearby Tumbo Island - hike on loop trail

• Optional Paddle to East Point Saturna - Walk around East Point Lighthouse Park.

Day Two

	Leisurely morning exploring Cabbage Island and surrounding area
	Return to Bennett Bay
	Pick-up at previously arranged time or as directed.
	Transport to Blue Vista Resort or to Ferry Terminal (Additional Charge)
